Pi Sigma Epsilon would like to present to you our newest Eta Theta Chapter Members! In all, we have received seven lovely new women and ten handsome men; all incredible additions to our organization. Their diligent work that's been put toward our chapter over the last two months have proven them beyond worthy of a spot in our family. Congratulations to all of these men and women!
Our Prospective New Members started to get their feet wet with Project Management and Marketing strategies! With the help of some current members, our PNM's planned and executed successful fundraisers on campus! Afterward, each group presented both their triumph and shortcomings in regards to the fundraiser in a professional setting. We're so excited to see all of the incredible ideas that our group of Spring Recruitment members will continue to propose and accomplish!
It's always great to have Bay Alarm come to our Monday night meetings! Not only are they a sponsor of our chapter, but they've recruited a handful of our members and have proven time and time again that the Bay way is the only way! Our Eta Theta Chapter looks forward to seeing your Recruiters again soon!
Our Second Annual Kohl's Sponsored Dress for Success Fashion Show had an incredible turnout of over one hundred guests! Designed to educate fellow Chico State students on how to dress appropriately for events ranging from a casual dinner date to a professional business meeting, the event was a fun, informative experience!
Our first Formal was a great time that was enjoyed not only by Pi Sigma Epsilon, but our brother fraternities, Delta Sigma Pi and Phi Chi Theta! It was wonderful to indulge in a night of dancing and entertainment, in addition to bonding with our neighboring business organizations! This event was definitely a memorable one, and we will be sure to host another formal in the near future!
This year's Spring Recruitment was a great success from start to finish! Following our Informational Nights, our dedicated team of members put together "Let the Journey Begin," our first recruitment event. Our creative Marketing Department came up with the theme of "Let the Journey Begin," to symbolize the limitless opportunities that are available to our members and the unknown places that their future success will bring them.
This was a fun-filled evening of indulging in good eats and finding out more about the Prospective New Members! In all, eighteen potential candidates attended our event, and it could not have been more delightful!
Since the beginning of the Fall 2016 semester, the board and the remaining chapter members have worked day in and day out to set up the organization for quick, yet long lasting growth. All these hard workers accomplished so much including:
- Chartering 18 new members
- Winning the College of Business competition
- Coming home from Regionals with the National Speakers Award
- Helping other clubs on campus
- Becoming Certified with the Philanthropy Counsel
- Social events
- Gaining corporate sponsors like Umpqua Bank and Bay Alarm Security
- Volunteering for the Sweet 16 Sales Competition
- Hosting recruiters from all over the country
- Holding in-house business workshops
There is one accomplishment, however, that encompasses them all. The National Pi Sigma Epsilon organization keeps track of all chapters of the fraternity and recently informed Eta Theta that it has been sitting at the very top of the list. This means that the Chico State chapter of PSE is currently the highest performing chapter in the entire nation.
We need to hold on to our ranking for a few more weeks before we can officially be declared as the Top New Chapter for 2016, but we’re only just getting started and plan to only go up from here.
Again, we could not have gotten to this standing with nationals without the effort, passion, and commitment of our board, seasoned members, and even our newest recruits. Thank you to everyone in Eta Theta for all that you do for this organization.
Pi Sigma Epsilon was founded in 1952, but it wasn’t until October of 2015 that the Eta Theta chapter was founded on Chico State’s campus. The new chapter worked diligently to get the organization in a position where serious growth was possible and in October of 2016, their hard work paid off. After weeks of tireless recruiting and promotion, Eta Theta chartered 18 new members to join their chapter. This fall recruitment nearly doubled the number of members in the organization from 25 to 43.
Not only did the chapter attract a lot of sharp, like-minded students, it also made sure to put each student through a careful selection process to check that they were a good fit. Along with the help of the whole chapter, the Directors of Recruitment, Sarah Dillabaugh and Nani Edmonson led in finding and selecting candidates by holding tabling events, leading informational nights, coming up with a theme of “Hollywood Nights” for the recruitment process, and even holding a large social event where the potential new members (PNM’s) could meet all of the existing members.
After a few weeks of finding what we thought would be great additions to our organization, the PNM Coordinator, Hugo Veronica, took over and trained our new recruits on how to be the best member they could be should they be accepted into the chapter.
Although our directors led the team when it came to recruitment and the PNM process, our success in gaining 18 new, wonderful members would not have been reached if it wasn’t for the entire chapter board and the eager members that stepped up to help.
We love our new PSE members and are so happy to have them as a part of the team! Below we have listed every new member as well as a link to their LinkedIn account. Feel free to check them out!
Although Chico State is the second oldest state campus in California, established in 1887, the university has grown leaps and bounds in the last couple years with its College of Business. Chico has always been a community focused and group oriented campus and starting in the spring of 2016, the College of Business (COB) has tried to incorporate those values into its program on an even larger scale.
A project management group for the COB started putting on a competition every semester to get all the business-related organizations together to network, have fun, and engage in some healthy competition. The event consists of earning points for many different types of participation including races, tug o’ war and overall enthusiasm.
Although at the competition’s debut, Pi Sigma Epsilon did not take home the gold, the organization redeemed itself this Fall when they left the competition victorious. Eta Theta hopes to continue their winning streak next semester when they, again, can be a part of this fun, dynamic competition.
After Pi Sigma Epsilon’s new chapter, Eta Theta, was founded in Chico in 2015, the organization has put a huge effort into growing it’s presence on campus, in the community, and in the nation. One of the ways that the chapter has grown is through it’s accumulation of corporate sponsors.
Corporate sponsors support the organization by providing them with a donation to be used for growing the organization and in return, the chapter markets for them. After the hard work of our members, we gained the support of our very first gold corporate sponsor, Bay Alarm. Bay Alarm is a home security company that was established in California and has been around for more than 70 years. After pairing with Bay Alarm, the company came out to speak with our organization on campus and in return, we proudly sport their logo on our T-shirts and at our events on campus.
In more recent news, Eta Theta picked up a second corporate sponsor, Umpqua Bank. Umpqua Bank is an investing firm that focuses primarily on small communities and now is helping Chico’s Pi Sigma Epsilon grow in it’s own community.
As the chapter finishes out the semester, they are hoping to continue their reach into the rest of the world by partnering with other companies and showing them how great it is to be on PSE's team.
